Abstract

This study aims to examine how transformational leadership influences employee performance through the mediation of work-life balance at Banyan Tree Bintan. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 130 employees. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The results indicate that transformational leadership does not have a direct effect on employee performance (t statistics = 0.180, p value = 0.857). However, transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on work-life balance (t statistics = 5.714, p value = 0.000), and work-life balance also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (t statistics = 3.438, p value = 0.001). Therefore, work-life balance fully mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance (t statistics = 2.375, p value = 0.018). These findings suggest that transformational leaders can enhance employee performance indirectly by improving the quality of work-life balance.
